► At present,
colligo does not allow OCs (original characters). Only characters that appear in a fandom's canon, whether major, minor or obscure, may be applied for. Duplicates of characters, if the duplicates/alternates exist in canon - Present Trunks and Future Trunks from Dragonball Z, for example - may also be applied for.
► Stay true to the canon nature of your character. OOC portrayals are highly discouraged and blatant applications from applicants hoping to play in such a manner will be rejected by the mod team. While we are not familiar with each and every fandom out there, google is our friend and we will use it to our advantage and read up on your character's personality before we pass judgment on your application. This is an OU game, not an AU one. If you are wishing to play the latter, we suggest you look elsewhere.
► Activity Checks will be done on a monthly basis in this game. This will be judged based on activity within thecolligo_threads community, in which a character must have participated in a log at least once a month with the thread having a minimum of four comments posted to it. If a character fails the activity check, they will be given their first and only activity warning and are expected to get active with their character in the threads community within a week of failing the activity check. If they fail twice in a row or fail to get active within that week, it will result in that character's removal from the game. You are required to wait one month before you are allowed to apply for the character you lost to the activity check again.
► God-modding is strictly prohibited. Do not move another player's character unless you have direct permission from the player themselves - ie, a player goes on hiatus and gives permission to their character's love interest or best friend to move the character around when needed. God-modding without such permission will not be tolerated and will result in automatic removal from the game. Play fair and stick to your own muses.
► Canon puncturing is allowed at the player's discretion. While many players are uncomfortable with the prospect of their character's fourth wall being broke, not breaking the fourth wall also presents problems for some characters. A good example would be characters within the Star Wars fandom, who are referenced, along with many other elements of their fandom, by characters from other fandoms quite frequently (see the Winchester brothers of Supernatural). Thus, the mods have left it up to the players to decide whether or not they would like their characters to be puncturable. Please check the list within the mod journal before attempting to puncture another character with your own.
► Players are allowed to play a maximum of 15 characters. However, after you have picked up five characters, you must have been active with those five - ie: there must be a gap no larger than two weeks between the time that you post incolligo_threads with a character. This shows the mods that you are capable of managing a large character list. If you fail to meet these requirements, any additional character applications past five will not be reviewed for admittance into the game.
► At present, you may only play two major characters per fandom. This means that if you play Spike and Riley Finn from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you cannot pick up Xander Harris. However, you can pick up Charles Gunn, as he is from a different show. This does not mean you cannot pick up any of the minor characters, though we leave that up to mod discretion. If you have any questions about this rule, please do not hesitate to contact the mods.
► PBs are a required element of this game. If you play a character from a comic/manga/cartoon/anime, we require that you select a PB to represent them. A PB is an actor/actress/model representation of a character that would otherwise be animated or sketched. Not using a PB makes other players uncomfortable during interactions. If you need help selecting a PB, the mods suggest checking outpb_updates,
find_icons, and Hollow Art. There are, of course, some exceptions that can be made to this rule. If you feel that your character should be, we suggest you speak with a mod prior to applying for this character or consider turning your character "human" to avoid difficulty with this.
► In regards to series and films that have just premiered and don't already have an established solid canon to them (ie: film adaptations of novels), there is a two week wait period on being allowed to app characters from that fandom from it's premiere date. For example, Public Enemies premiers in the US on July 3rd. Someone wanting to play Melvin Purvis would have to wait until July 17th to send in an application for that character. This is done to prevent the common "hype interest" in characters from new releases and the drops that occur all too often shortly after the character gets accepted.
► Drama of any kind will not be tolerated. We realize that drama is inevitable within games and is bound to rear its ugly head at some point, but we assure our players it will be dealt with in a swift and professional manner. If a player is caught spreading rumors, wanking, and encouraging other players to wank against their fellow players and/or the mods themselves, the player will be warned and possibly also removed. The mods would like to provide a fun, drama-free atmosphere for our players to game in. Drama is not welcomed in this gaming environment.
► In addition to the above rule, keep OOC issues in the OOC realm. Do not drag personal issues you have with a character's player into your interpretation of the character. For example, Anakin Skywalker would not hate Padmé Amidala just because his player doesn't like hers. The mods would like to remind the players that it is possible to game with someone's characters without having to interact with their player in the OOC venue. If you are not comfortable or mature enough to handle your characters interacting with the characters of a player you dislike, we suggest that you avoid playing those characters.
► Mature themes, such as excessive violence and sexual content, are allowed within this game - however, the mods require that you clearly mark your post with a warning of such content to your fellow players and friends lock the post to the community it's being placed in, along with putting all content of that nature behind a cut.
► Pregnancies are allowed within semi-realistic limitations, with a minimum of four months that your character must carry the child. Exceptions will be made for characters of a species with different gestation periods and characters who enter the game already with child.
► Incest will be allowed if and ONLY IF it appears in canon.
► Challenge holds are allowed. However, if the mods discover that they are being done excessively/maliciously in order to spite another player, we will put a stop to them. For now, if you wish to challenge the hold of another player, both holders have 10 days from the date of the challenge to submit an application for the character in question. ALL CHALLENGE APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE A WRITING SAMPLE EVEN IF THEY ARE CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE GAME. The applications will presented sans-OOC information to a panel of voters who will judge the personality and writing samples of both applications based on which interpretation of the character strikes them as the most in character. This is done to prevent a non-biased decision that is based on IC information and not who the applicant is. The application with most IC portrayal will have their character accepted. Also, please note that if a holder submits an application for a character before someone challenges their hold, that challenge is not valid.
► Keeping a character's history from a previous game is allowed - however, we require you add in a "PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY:" section to your application in which you summarize your character's time in that game in a substantial paragraph. Be sure to include any IC reasoning that may have happened in game to cause your character to be different from in any way from the canon concept. And yes, something from this portion of your character's history may be used as the reasoning behind your character having caught the attention of The Collector.
► If you drop from the game entirely (ie: leave the game, taking all your characters with you) three times, you will be banned from applying in the future. This does not pertain to regular drops where a few characters are dropped while still having others in play. Additionally, if your application for a character is rejected three times in a row, you will be banned from applying as that character.
► New rules will be added at the mods' discretion as they see fit. The players will be notified incolligo of any changes or additions to the rules.
