FAQ.

CAN MY CHARACTER LEAVE THE CITY OF COLLIGO?
► No. Your character is more than welcome to try, but any attempts will result in them being dropped back into the library they initially found themselves within upon their arrival and will be escorted back out into the city again by the guards. Excessive attempts will results in punishments, such as the guards seizing your character and placing them within a holding cell within the library's basement.

HOW DO CHARACTERS COMMUNICATE?
► Upon arrival, characters are presented with a PDA by one of the guards who escort them out of the library. The PDA functions as a phone and is capable of both voice calls and text messages, as well as giving the character access to the Colligo Network.

HOW DOES THE COLLIGO NETWORK WORK?
► It works like a message board. Your character can post random, public message to it or filter messages to the other characters. It also can connect to the internet, although keep in mind that much like the PDAs which are used in the 'real world', there will sometimes be errors and other issues -- ie, anything with usercontent (blogging sites, networking sites, dating sites, fan sites, etc), will receive 404 messages. The Collector cannot replicate this material in a believable manner. There are, however, internet cafes with computers which have internet access, as well as personal computers for sale.

CAN MY CHARACTER READ THE STRIKETHROUGH MESSAGES OF OTHER CHARACTERS?
► No. Any text that has been crossed out is unreadable unless it is something they are capable of doing. (Example: An omniscient being.)

HOW DOES THE COLLIGO THREADS COMMUNITY WORK?
► All posts in the threads comm ([info]colligo_threads) are done in third person prose -- ie: paragraph/storybook/etc. form. "Dialogue," with action attached to it or simply just plain narrative.

WHAT DOES THE CITY OF COLLIGO LOOK LIKE?
► It appears to be a modern city, similar to that of Boston, Massachusetts. There are office buildings, grocery stores, apartments, and houses, as well as streets, parks and playgrounds, and the added deception in making your characters think they are still somewhere on Earth - animals from Earth. What animals? Stray cats and dogs, squirrels, rabbits, white-tailed deer, as well as various birds, fish, and bugs. Use your imagination! If you are uncertain about creating a building/store or about any of the animals, do not hesitate to comment here or contact one of the mods. [BASIC MAP]

DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE COLLECTOR?
► No. Characters are unaware of how they were brought to Colligo and thus have no knowledge of The Collector.

IS THE CITY THE ENTIRE PLANET?
► No. The city is considerably large, but it does not make up the entire planet like the city-planet of Coruscant in Star Wars. It it is relatively the size of modern day New York City.

WHAT'S BEYOND THE CITY?
► Ruins and barren wasteland. At the moment, your characters are unable to reach these areas - or see them, for that matter. An illusion of endless roads is painted for your characters if they go to the outskirts of the city and as previously stated, if they try to leave, they will find themselves back in the library.

WHERE DO THE GUARDS TAKE PEOPLE ONCE THEY ARE TAKEN FROM THE LIBRARY?
► To the street just outside the library. Characters will be unable to enter the library once being deposited in the street at its steps.

IS THERE A LANGUAGE BARRIER?
► Nope! The Collector has made is so that everyone, by default, speaks the same language. If your character speaks English, other characters will appear to be speaking English to them - the same goes for any other language. Posts to the network are also displayed to your character in language they speak. Think Star Trek's universal translator system.

WHAT ABOUT HOUSING?
► Covered! Upon arrival, you will find an room assigned to you that is listed on your PDA. This is something you choose for your character shortly after being accepted.

CAN MY CHARACTER GET PREGNANT?
► Indeed they can! However, we ask that you keep it realistic. This means that your character must carry their child for at least four months before giving birth. Exceptions are made, of course, in the cases of characters who are of a different species and thus have different gestation periods and characters who enter the game already pregnant.

IS THE CITY COMPLETELY EMPTY?
► Unfortunately, no. There are NPCs already living in the city and working a variety of jobs. They are human, but they are also The Collector's minions. They keep the city running for his collection. If questioned about Colligo, they provide little to no information and do not speak of The Collector. A good example of this can be found in this comment.

CAN MY CHARACTER KEEP (SOME OF) THEIR HISTORY FROM A PREVIOUS GAME?
► Yes - however, we require that you include a "PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY:" section somewhere in your application where you summarize your character's time in their former game.

HOW DOES MY CHARACTER GET MONEY?
► Each character is provided with credit rights to $100 US Dollars that they can claim at any bank by showing the teller their PDA. After that, your character(s) will need to get jobs to earn money.

IS THERE A NEWSPAPER AND/OR RADIO STATION IN COLLIGO?
► Yes to both, along with tossing in that there are a handful of television channels that show a variety of programs (but none of the fandoms that cannot be punctured). The news that is available is on minor city happenings, nothing of great substance or anything leading to clues about where they really are.

WHAT ITEMS WILL MY CHARACTER HAVE ON THEM WHEN THEY ARRIVE?
► Anything that your character would canonically have with them from the point in time in their canon that they are pulled from is what they will have with them when they arrive in Colligo. This includes: weapons/make-up/a computer/their cell phone/their wallet/etc. This does not include a vehicle or cash, however. Credit cards are allowed but will be unusable and, of course, a cell phone would have no service.

YOU SAID NO VEHICLES BUT MY CHARACTER ALWAYS HAS THEIR VEHICLE WITH THEM. WHAT THEN?
► Fear not! The Collector has taken pity on his collection and has allowed any vehicle your character has, in canon, to accompany them to the city. They will find information on their PDA about the garage and lot number where their vehicle can be located, and the keys (if applicable) to said vehicle on their dresser in their assigned room. Note that this only applies to earth-bound vehicles for the time being so sorry, but no starships/jets/hot-air balloons/submarines/things of that nature will cross over with them.

WHAT ABOUT PETS?
► Pets are certainly allowed! If they are coming from the character's canon, the same rule applies as with any other item/belonging. However, if your character would like to adopt/purchase a pet within Colligo that is also allowed. We simply ask that it be kept within reason. Dogs, cats, fish, birds, gerbils, snakes, etc. are fine. Elephants, lions, pterodactyls, one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eaters, and other 'unusual' type pets, unfortunately, are not.

WHY IS THERE A BAN ON HARRY POTTER HOLDS AND APPLICATIONS?
► This was put into place as a way of detouring those who simply want to play within this fandom due to the hype surrounding the latest film installment. The "ban" was put into effect on July 29th. If a player had a hold on a character from that fandom prior to that date, they are still granted the right to apply.

Have a question that you don't see listed here? Ask! The mods are more than happy to answer it and add it to the FAQ list.
